Chris Pratt Cried After Backlash He Received For Post About His Wife And Child

The Guardians of the Galaxy star posted about his wife and 'healthy daughter' last year in what was read as a dig against Ana Faris.

Chris Pratt has revealed that he 'cried' after being slammed on social media following a now infamous post where he praised his 'healthy' daughter Layla in November 2021.

In a post on Instagram back last Autumn, Pratt had written alongside a picture of him and wife Katherine Schwarzenegger: "Find you somebody that looks at you like that!! You know!? We met in church. She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter, she chews so loudly that sometimes I put in my ear buds to drown it out, but that’s love!"

The post went on, but people picked up on the 'healthy daughter' part, accusing the Guardians of the Galaxy star of making a sly dig at his former wife Ana Faris, after the pair had their son Jack seven weeks premature in 2012.

Pratt has stayed quiet about the controversy ever since, but in a recent Men's Health cover story out this week he finally lifted the lid on how he felt about the incident.

Reflecting on the scandal, the 43-year-old said: “I said something [on Instagram], like, ‘Find someone who looks at you the way my wife, [Katherine Schwarzenegger], looks at me.’

"And then I gave her some s**t in the thing and said, ‘But I love you. I’m so thankful for my wife — she gave me a beautiful, healthy daughter,'” Pratt recalled.

Jack is now nine years old but was born prematurely, and social media users interpreted this post as a dig.

“That is f**ked up,” Pratt told the magazine of the criticism.

“My son’s gonna read that one day. He’s nine. And it’s etched in digital stone. It really f**king bothered me, dude. I cried about it.”

At the time, Pratt put out an Instagram story saying he felt 'really kind of upset and depressed' when he went to bed as the outrage spread, before waking up 'feeling crappy'.

He also went on to say: “If you feel down today maybe get exercise and maybe listen to some good worship music or get the word in because it really helped me this morning.”

In more recent happier news for the Passengers star, he announced the birth of his and Schwarzenegger's second child, a daughter named Eloise Christina Schwarzenegger Pratt, on Instagram last month.

Pratt revealed that she was born on 21 May and that baby and mother were both 'doing well'.

He said in a statement: "We are so excited to announce the birth of our second daughter, Eloise Christina Schwarzenegger Pratt. Mama and baby are doing well. We feel beyond blessed and grateful."

Pratt stars in Jurassic World Dominion, currently out in cinemas having been released earlier this month. It took $145.1 million at the US box office on its opening weekend, making it the fourth-highest opening weekend for a Universal film to date.
