It's no secret that stars have dizzyingly glamorous lives full of action-packed schedules, jet-setting, and generally being unable to walk down the street without being photographed.
Some celebrities may even covet the feeling of being invisible and being able to pop to their local coffee shop without being papped. Others have even taken the desire one step further and been anonymous.
Take Daft Punk, for example. Despite making hits for more than 30 years, the electronic French band has been relatively unknown, in terms of what they look like, at least.
But members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo are not totally anon (for one, we know their names).

What they look like, however, is less known and it's unlikely any of us will be chasing them down the street with a camera in hand.

Recently on Reddit, images of the techno band were shared, and people couldn't believe they were finally seeing the people behind the masks.
Mostly, users were shocked at how ordinary the duo looked.
One person wrote: "I mean, it's not like I'd recognise them if I saw them on the street nor would I believe either of them if they told me they were in Daft Punk."

Another said: "Wow Daft Punk looks like a pair of cheesy 70s french guys, who could have ever guessed. What a revelation. Everyone's shocked."

Others either didn't believe it or wished they hadn't seen it.
One person wrote: "There was a time when I was so curious and wanted to see their faces. Then I just accepted my fate, I wish I could unsee their faces."
Echoing the sentiment, another wrote: "To me, this even seems like a cursed image lol. Could've lived my days knowing them only as robots who made killer dance tracks and I would've been content."

Daft Punk, who disbanded in 2019, has done media interviews, notably Bangalter who has taken his mask off in the past, and was profiled in The New York Times in 2023.
After making music since 1993, he revealed that he was ready to hang the boots of electro, techno music.
He told the paper: "My priorities in the world in 2023 are on the side of the humans, not the machines. I have absolutely no desire or intentions to be a robot in 2023.
"There is absolutely not one reason I would want to be one."
The band were initially named Darlin' but after a music critic described their music as 'a daft punky trash', the duo decided to use Daft Punk as their new moniker.
