David Corenswet And Rachel Brosnahan set to star in James Gunn's Superman

The director and filmmaker took to Twitter Tuesday night to confirm reports.

James Gunn’s Superman has found its leading actors in David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan.

The director and filmmaker took to Twitter Tuesday night to confirm reports that Corenswet and Bronsnahan are set to star in the upcoming Superman: Legacy.

Corenswet is set to take on the massive role of one Clark Kent, a.k.a Superman.

Best known for his work in the Netflix series, The Politician, where he starred as River Barkley, Corenswet follows in the footsteps of Henry Cavil, Christopher Reeve and Tom Wellington, among others who have starred as the Man of Steel.

Last year Bronsnahan was in the horror thriller Pearl and also had a role in the upcoming disaster film Twisters.

But of course, if there’s one thing Superman needs, it’s the love of his life, Lois Lane, who is set to be portrayed by Brosnahan.

If the name Bronsnahan sounds familiar, it’s probably because she’s got an extensive list of credits, including her work in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel which earnt her an Emmy for Best Leading Actress in a Comedy Series.

She’s also known for her role in House of Cards as well as featuring in movies like Patriots Day and The Finest Hour.

The two were announced as the leading stars of the 2025 film after months of speculation and anticipation from fans.

“They are not only incredible actors, but also wonderful people,” said Gunn when announcing the cast for the DC film.

Corenswet and Bronsnahan were selected from a group of six actors who all auditioned for the highly desired role.

English actor Tom Brittney and The Great’s Nicholas Hoult were also vying for the role of the iconic superhero, but Corenswet was ultimately picked after screen testing.

Other actors competing for the role of Lois include Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor and Emma Mackey from Sex Education.

While this is exciting news for DC fans everywhere, Corenswet and Bronsnahan won’t begin filming their parts for a while.

Filming is expected to begin next year in Georgia, with Gunn confirming that the film will be released July 11, 2025.
