It's not good news, Dynasty fans, as season 5 will officially be the last.

The latest season arrived this weekend just gone on Netflix, and it seems that the Dynasty team had the heads up that it would be the last.

The one blessing for fans is that they haven’t been left on a TV cliff-hanger, as the season 5 finale ties up all of the loose ends.

The soap is just one of many to be given the axe, after the American network CW revealed back in May which shows weren't making the cut.

Why was Dynasty cancelled?

Other shows to be cancelled included RoswellNew MexicoIn the DarkCharmed4400Naomi and DynastyLegaciesBatwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow.

It was reported that Season 4 of the show saw them drop 14% in viewer numbers, which was probably a big contributor to the decision.

How did Dynasty end?

One of the stars of the show, Rafael de la Fuente, has been teasing fans on Twitter about a major plot twist he says they wouldn’t have seen coming.

“Something MAJOR is happening in the series finale of #Dynasty. We were hoping it would and it IS and you are NOT ready. Major.”

Fans were eagerly waiting to see how it all ends for The Carringtons.

Seeing as the show has featured kidnappings, marriages, pregnancies, surprise relatives and more then they had a high bar to beat.

Fans were given the closure they wanted, and a chance to say goodbye to the show rather than being left wandering “what if”.

As you might expect, the finale DOES go big as promised, with break-ups, arguments, businesses collapsing, exes turning up unannounced, a surprise birth and more.

There’s a lot to take in, and many fans feel like the show was definitely deserving of a sixth season to make it less rushed.

The show uses the classic “fast forward six months” to show how everyone has ended up in the finale.
