How Much Is Eddie Murphy Worth?

The American’s career has grown from his initial success working as a comedian in the 1980s. Nowadays at 61 years old his career as an actor has slowed down significantly, but he still very much has his foot in the door, still working on some projects such as Beverly Cop 4 which he will both produce and star in. To say his career has been successful is an understatement. Eddie’s movies have grossed nearly $7 billion at the worldwide box office which gives him the title of the sixth-highest ever American actor at the box office.

Throughout the late 80s, 90s and 2000s, Eddie consistently earned around $20 million per movie and so became one of the highest paid actors in the world during the peak of his fame.

Now, in 2022, Eddie Murphy’s net worth is estimated to be around $200 million according to Celebrity Net Worth. It is also estimated that during his career, Eddie has earned himself a cool $300 million in both salaries and royalties combined.

Eddie has spent his whole life in the US, being born in Brooklyn, New York in 1961. From a young age Eddie has always known that he wanted to work as a comedian. When he was only 19 years old he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live where he shined, quickly becoming a favourite among viewers, creating memorable comedic characters with apparent ease.

His first on screen success came in the shape of the police comedy film 48 Hrs in 1982. Off the back of this, Eddie quickly earned himself roles in many more box-office successes, such as Trading Places in 1983 and Beverly Hills Cop in 1984. After his popularity in film, Eddie left SNL behind him in 1984 to pursue his acting career completely. Since then Eddie has had an award winning career starring in successful movies such as The Nutty Professor (1996) The Shrek series and Disney’s Mulan (1998). In recent years his career has come full circle as after an absence of 35 years he returned to Saturday Night Live in 2019 and earned himself an Emmy Award for a guest actor in a comedy series.

After this long career it's no wonder Eddie has splashed out a little on his residences, paying $15 million in 2007 for a private island in the Bahamas, as well as his Beverly Hills mansion which is estimated to be worth around $30-40 million.
