Emily Ratajkowski has explained why she blocked Celeste Barber on social media after the comedian poked fun at one of her photoshoots.

Celeste is known both for her new Netflix show Wellmania and her stand-up comedy, but people particularly love her Instagram page where she pokes fun at celebrities and influencers.

Her favourite hobby, which has earned her 9.5 million followers, is picking the most outrageous photoshoots she can find, and trying to recreate them at home - partially to point out the unrealistic beauty standards being set for women, partially just for a laugh.

But, when she decided to make fun at one of EmRata's shoots, it didn't go so well.

In the post, Celeste shared a screenshot of Emily posing seductively in a half-naked photoshoot, followed by her own, less glamorous interpretation of the pose.

She captioned the post: "We are sick of objectifying our bodies. Also, here's my a**."

This all went down in the same year that Emily released her book My Body, which examined sexuality and female empowerment, and some of the model's own personal experiences with objectification and abuse - which was admittedly bad timing on Celeste's part.

Celeste, who's photoshoot recreations are normally quite well received, got a lot of backlash for the post.

One comment on the now-deleted post had read: "This caption and many of the comments here are disappointingly misogynistic. How a woman chooses to use her own body, sensuality and sexuality is entirely up to her.

"Hating on other women for how they choose to do so is harmful."

The post didn't go down well.

And it wasn't long before Celeste found herself blocked by the model.

Now, two years on, Emily has addressed the 'drama' between her and the Aussie comedian.

Speaking on her High Low podcast, EmRata said: "This whole drama with Celeste has been blown out of proportion.

"In general, I find her to be really funny. But, the message I was trying to send to her was, 'I just don't want you to do this to me anymore'.

"I was like, I'm not giving her my consent for this joke anymore. It just landed at a specific time for me."

The 31-year-old added: "We really love to pick on female influencers, like they are considered the trash, lamest, most cringe, most embarrassing people on the plane.

"I fundamentally find that to be sexist. Yeah, no s**t women want to be influencers - it's one of the ways that women have learned to be successful and make money. They're hustling."

Celeste, too, has recently spoken about the backlash she sometimes gets for her posts.

In an interview with Marie Claire back in January, Celeste shrugged off the EmRata incident as a 'slow news day'.

"I like running my mouth off. I do it a lot. I'm quick-witted – it's one of my favourite things about me," she said at the time.

"I don't like that I feel I can't do that as much, and yeah I do feel like I censor myself sometimes. But then other times I don't give a f**k and I operate from a place of already being cancelled.

"I mean good luck to them. You can't win. They hate what you do one day, then you're the greatest thing in the world the next day."
