A director who has worked with Eminem has revealed that the rapper was such a 'complicated' guy to deal with. Take a look at what he had to say below:

American film director Anthony Mandler is known for working with the likes of Drake, Jay Z, Beyoncé and, of course, the real slim shady.

Speaking on the Anything Goes With James English podcast, the 49-year-old referred to Eminem as 'complicated' and 'remarkable'.

Host James English asked: "What about Eminem? For me he's the biggest and best rapper of my generation, of all time.

"I know he gets a lot of stick because he's a white kid but for me his lyrics are second to none, how's he as an individual?"

To which Mandler replied: "I did a couple videos for him, spent some time in Detroit with him, a couple shoots.

"He's complicated, he was complicated at that time, I think he was not sober at that time, I think now he's sober, and he seems to be really direct but it was complicated.

"He's a complicated guy you know, and [he's] not like open or, as like one-to-one they don't look you in the eyes, but then they walk away and they do something that's remarkable you know.

He added: "They have a special skill set. I think with Em, it was, it was, what I noticed more than anything was that he was pretty much like a recluse, you know.

"We would have to go to Detroit and go out to his house to work, you know, always work in these like small communities where he lived.

"You couldn't get him to come to LA and work, you know, you always had to go to him, which tells me something, you know, he's like [in] his world [which] is sort of smaller and smaller and that's that's part of the problem.

"When you see fame sort of controlling someone's life when they actually want to do something different."

One thing that isn't up for debate is Eminem's impact on music. The rapper was recently induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

At the 2022 ceremony, he said: “I realise what an honour it is right now to be here up here tonight, and what a privilege it is to do the music that I love."

"Music basically saved my life," he said. "I’ll keep this as painless as possible.

"I’m f**king stuttering and s**t. I’m probably not supposed to actually be here tonight because of a couple of reasons.

"One, I know that I’m a rapper, and this is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

"There’s only a few of us who have been inducted already. Secondly, I almost died from an overdose in 2007, which kind of sucked."
