Ewan McGregor Says Seeing Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader Is 'Spine-Tingling'

Ewan McGregor Says Seeing Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader Is 'Spine-Tingling'

The actor said the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series will blow everyone away with their epic encounter.

Ewan McGregor has revealed one amazing part of the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series that will blow everyone away.

The star, who will be reprising his role as the titular character, says seeing Hayden Christensen step into the black cloak of Darth Vader was ‘spine-tingling’.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, McGregor admitted that seeing his co-star reclaim his place as Anakin Skywalker-turned-Sith Lord left him taken aback.

“To see Hayden back in the role of Anakin, well… it was sort of spine-tingling,” he said.

The 50-year old Scottish actor also expressed how excited he was to reunite with Christensen.

He said: “It was amazing. It was just amazing to see Hayden full-stop. I’m so close to him – we’ve stayed in touch over the years, but we haven’t seen each other for a long time.

“I looked across at him and we’re on a set and… I look over at him and he’s Anakin now, and I’m Obi-Wan now, and it’s like nothing had happened.

"I didn’t see any age on his face. I just felt like the period of time between Episode III and now didn’t exist. It was so peculiar.”

The upcoming miniseries takes place ten years after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

It will follow Obi-Wan Kenobi as he watches over a young Luke Skywalker on the planet of Tatooine while enemies threaten to destroy any remnants of the Jedi order.

Much of the show has been kept secret; however, Disney just released the first official trailer yesterday.

The trailer already has more than eight million views and fans have ben salivating at the first look into the action-adventure series.

One Twitter user wrote: “I am all in on the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.”

Another said: “The trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi is the biggest trailer of the year.”

While another added: “So excited for the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, cast list is amazing, can’t wait."

Obi-Wan Kenobi will also introduce a new villain to the Star Wars universe named ‘Inquisitor Reva’, who will be played by Moses Ingram. The character has been described as ‘ruthlessly ambitious’ as Darth Vader.

Joining Ingram, will be Rupert Friend, Kumail Nanjiani, and Joel Edgerton.

Deborah Chow will also be directing the miniseries and John Williams will return to compose the score.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on May 25 on Disney+.
