Fans have been blown away after watching the new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

While Nintendo has kept much of the plot hidden away since it was announced, the new teaser dives head first into what we can expect when it drops next year.

The visuals are absolutely stunning and it looks like it will be one hell of an adventure for Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) and his gang of Mushroom Kingdom friends.

But what viewers seem to be most excited about is seeing the film pay homage to Mario Kart.

In the dying seconds of the trailer, you get to see Mario hop on his iconic racing kart and burst on the even more legendary Rainbow Road.

Anyone who has played the Nintendo 64 game will know how much of a big deal this is to have it represented on the big screen.

We even get to hear Pratt's attempt at Mario's 'wah-hoo' catchphrase and it's pretty bang on.

People on social media couldn't get enough of it.

One person wrote: "YALL DIDNT HAVE TO GIVE US RAINBOW ROAD AND YET YOU DID?! THE MARIO KART REPRESENTATION?!"

Another added: "I’m so happy to be a Mario fan."

A third said: "Loving everything about this movie! And Mario's lil' 'Wahoo' on the Rainbow Road, absolutely adorable!"

Pratt will be joined in the film by Charlie Day, who will play Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy has been cast as Princess Peach, and Jack Black will play the terrifying Bowser.

Seth Rogen is signed on to play Donkey Kong, while Key and Peele's Keegan-Michael Key will voice Toad. There's still no sign of Yoshi just yet but we're holding out hope.

Also joining the cast are Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Kevin Michael Richardson (The Simpsons), comedian Sebastien Maniscalco, and Charles Martinet, who has voiced both Mario and Luigi in the Super Mario video game series since 1992.

The movie is set for release in the UK on 31 March, 2023 and 7 April, 2023 in the US.
