"C'est moi, Mario!" It might not be the catchphrase English-speaking fans are used to, but it's apparently one they're willing to listen to after the trailer for the new Super Mario film arrived this week. What do you think of the French?

The highly anticipated trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie dropped on Friday, revealing Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Charlie Day as Luigi and Chris Pratt as Mario.

Fans are encouraged to root for Mario as he's depicted as the only one who can stop Bowser from stealing the shiny, golden star which Mario Kart fans will recognise as the best of all box items, but the trailer has prompted some to turn against him - and not because of his star-saving abilities.

Instead, it's Pratt's accent in the film that has left fans unsure. We're first introduced to Mario as he'd blasted into Mushroom Kingdom, at which point he questions where he is in a voice that sounds like, well, Chris Pratt.

The accent changes, however, when he runs off across the mushrooms with Toad, when he sounds more like an American doing an impression of an enthusiastic British person, saying: "Mashroom Kingdam, here we cam."

After the English trailer was released, Twitter users managed to track down a version that had been dubbed in French and admitted they wanted to watch that version of the movie instead.

Fans have said the French voice-over for Mario sounds better than Chris Pratt.

Voice actor and YouTuber @YongYea tweeted a clip which showed Mario's scenes in the film, writing, "Alright I'm watching the Mario Movie in French."

Though anyone who doesn't speak French would have a hard time understanding any of the conversations in the movie, many internet users have agreed that the voice actor in the French version sounds more like the original Mario fans know from the Nintendo games.

Hear what some people believe to be the 'better' version below:

Responding to the French clip, one Twitter user wrote, "They really nailed it in french I love it," while another commented: "Damn, that's actually what I was hoping he would sound like!"

Though Pratt's interpretation of the character might not be for everyone, many people are still excited for the release of the film next year.

One fan wrote: "As a 40 year old man who's been a Nintendo fan for most of my life, I was not expecting this to be good but now I am beyond excited."

Pratt himself expressed his delight at being involved in the project as a longtime fan of the games, sharing the trailer and writing: "The official teaser trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie is finally here!! After playing the games for years as a kid (and adult) I'm excited to bring Mario to all of you! Enjoy!"

If the trailer hasn't done the trick, hopefully the film itself will be enough to win fans over.
