The first trailer for Euphoria season three has been released, showing the return of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer.

Many fans questioned if the HBO TV show would ever even return, with season two having come out four years ago and essentially the entire main cast having become household names since then.

Part of that is figuring out how on earth the TV series would manage to get all the celebrities involved on screen at the same time, with other actors playing side characters such as Colman Domingo having also found major success since the series last came out.

If you pay close attention to the first look though it will become obvious how they were able to manage to get the stacked cast of Euphoria to come back.

Here's the trailer for Euphoria season three:

Whilst the trailer sets up a fascinating reboot of sorts for the characters, one thing becomes clear: it will be rare to see the main characters of this show on screen at the same time in season three.

The three most successful and busiest members of the show, Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi, are split into two completely separate storylines.

Whilst Rue is continuing a spiral into drugs and partying she displayed in season two, Cassy and Nate appear to have fallen into domestic bliss even if Elordi's character looks less than pleased with Sweeney's turning to OnlyFans.

When Zendaya starred in the show's first season in 2019 she was known more or less solely for her role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but she is now a household name after her roles in Challengers, Dune: Part Two, and the subsequent Spider-Man films where she played a bigger role.

Elordi went on to star in Saltburn, a film that feels a natural extension of starring in Euphoria, but also went on to play the monster in Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein for which he received widepspread critical plaudits.

Sweeney meanwhile starred and produced in Anyone But You alongside Glenn Powell, however has recently made headlines for the wrong reasons after her American Eagle controversy and public relationship with controversial figure Scooter Braun.

The trio's busy schedules off the back of their success means that finding a scheduled time that all three could appear on screen together would have been difficult, meaning the decision to split them up was likely a vital one to bring them back.

This decision meanwhile to feature a major time jump in the show was reportedly floated by Levinson in Winter 2023, with the show reported to have needed a major rewrite after the death of Angus Cloud who's character Fez was set to play a major role in season three.

Speaking about the decision to feature a five year time jump in the show, the show's creator Levinson stated: The one thing we all agreed on is we can’t go back to high school — although many, many shows have had 30-year-old high school students, we’re not.

"Five years felt like a natural place [to jump] because if they had gone to college they’d be out of college at that time."

Euphoria season three will premiere April 2026.
