Alan Sugar Almost Quit 'The Apprentice' A Few Years Ago

He said it 'wasn't a good idea'.

Lord Alan Sugar loves a good firing but usually it's at one of them posh plonkers on The Apprentice.

However, it turns out he pointed his famous finger at the BBC a few years ago and told them he would quit the show if they didn't change the format.

Apparently, the business mogul wasn't happy about having to award winners with top jobs at his firms because it was infuriating his current employees.

He told The Sun: "It wasn't a good idea and that was it. I said, 'I'm not doing that any more'."

The Beeb altered the format in 2011, so, now, instead of getting a job, winners are given £250,000 to fund their own business idea.

Sir Alan added: "That was the only basis on which I was going to continue doing it. Giving someone a job was turning out to be quite difficult.

"It was problematic as far as other employees were concerned. You don't just create a job out of thin air. Otherwise you don't have a good business, do you? There was never an empty job.

"I would frankly not be still doing this if I hadn't changed the format."

The Apprentice 2016 starts October 6, 9pm, BBC One. Can't wait to hear some of the belting one-liners. That's the only reason I watch it.
