Dan Goor Shares Touching Statement After Chelsea Peretti Announces She's Leaving 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer and producer Dan Goor has shared a touching statement praising Chelsea Peretti for being 'one of the funniest people in history' after she announced she'd be leaving the show.

Taking to Twitter, Goor wrote that he and Mike Schur wanted Peretti to be a part of the show 'from the moment' they decided to create it.

Describing her as 'the human embodiment of the 100 emoji', he went on to say that 'while it's sad' to see her leave, he's 'proud' and 'excited' for whatever comes next for the star.

And, in what's bound to be a relief for fans, he added: "Also, I know for a fact this isn't the last we'll see of Gina Linetti.

"I mean she got run over by a frickin' bus, and she only missed like a week of work."

Peretti broke the news that she would be leaving the hit show on social media, telling her 1.4 million Twitter followers: "B99 fans. Hiiiiiiiiiiii. Chelsea Peretti, here. I won't be doing a full season of Brooklyn Nine Nine in Season 6."

But she also gave fans hope, adding: "But that doesn't mean I won't ever be back, winky face emoji, heart emoji. I want to thank you for the hours you spent watching Gina be Gina: confident, idiotic-but-smart, pithy, and infused with rhythm and cell-phone radiation. It is hard for me to know exactly what to say."

She followed this up with two more posts, one of which was her hijacking the statement made by Emmy Rossum when she left Shameless.

Fans of the show didn't take the news well - with many saying the show wouldn't be the same without 'Gina'.

It's been a bit of a rough year for B99 fans: earlier this year the show was dropped by Fox and it looked like it could be the end for Detective Jake Peralta and his colleagues.

However, NBC stepped in to the breach and announced it would be picking up the show for season five.

Although no official release date has been revealed just yet, it's rumoured to arrive at some point during the mid-season next year.
