Daniel Craig 'Almost Convinced' To Take Up The Role Of Bond One More Time

Last year, Daniel Craig was asked if he'd like to play James Bond again. His response? "Now? I'd rather ... slash my wrists.

"No, not at the moment. Not at all. That's fine. I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on."

Well, it looks like he'll be eating those extremely controversial words as reports are coming out that he's been convinced to take up the role again.

Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the franchise, is rumoured to be very keen to get Craig back into the role after she produced a hit off-Broadway performance of Othello that Craig starred in.

A Hollywood source reportedly told The New York Post: "Daniel was very pleased with how Othello went and the great reviews.

"Now Daniel's talks with Barbara are going in the right direction. They have a script - screenwriting duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade [who've written several Bond movies] are writing and they'll go into production as soon as Daniel is ready to commit."

They added: "Plus, Barbara Broccoli doesn't like Tom Hiddleston, he's a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond."

The NY Post reported that the whole 'Taylor Swift, Tom Hiddleston' relationship sealed his fate as it was 'cringe-inducing'. Yikes.

There has been speculation that other actors could pick up where Craig left off. Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Aidan Turner and Idris Elba have all been mentioned over the last year.

Writer Robert Wade spoke about the new film to the Telegraph. He said: "I'm just not sure how you would go about writing a James Bond film now,

"Each time, you've got to say something about Bond's place in the world, which is Britain's place in the world. But things are moving so quickly now, that becomes tricky.

"With people like Trump, the Bond villain has become a reality.

"So when they do another one, it will be interesting to see how they deal with the fact that the world has become a fantasy."

It seems like those involved in James Bond just love saying controversial things, don't they? Referring to Donald Trump as a Bond villain is one way to get your invite to the White House ripped up and put in the bin.

Only time will tell whether Daniel Craig will pick up his gun and martini glass for one more movie.
