Donald Glover has officially made Emmys history, Los Angeles Times reports, after winning the award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
Glover, also known by his hip-hop moniker Childish Gambino, became the first black man to win the award. His efforts were recognised because of his directing of the "B.A.N." episode of Atlanta.
In his acceptance speech he thanked Hiro Murai, who directed Childish Gambino videos.
"First, I want to thank the great algorithm that put us all here," he said.
"This really belongs to Hiro Murai. He had the eye for the show first, he's really amazing. Thank you."
It wasn't his only award of the night either, as he also took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
On the night, Glover became the the first director to win for a show he acted in since 1997, and the first black man to win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 32 years.
In his second acceptance speech of the night he jokingly thank President of the United States Donald Trump.
He said: "I want to thank Trump for making black people No. 1 on the most oppressed list.
"He's the reason I'm probably up here."
Glover could perhaps be in for yet more awards for acting in the coming years, as he's been cast as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars spin off and The Lion King.
The official Star Wars Twitter account posted the announcement in October last year that Glover would become a part of the legendary franchise.
"Hello, what have we here?" they wrote. "Donald Glover is Lando Calrissian in the untitled 2018 Han Solo Star Wars Story."
The movie will show Lando in his "formative years" according to LucasFilm.
"We're so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us," directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller said in an official statement. "These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we'd like to publicly apologise to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever."
