Not too long ago we reported on Netflix's latest horror contribution - French series Marianne.

The eight-episode series dropped on Friday 13th (obviously), and already fans have been freaking out over its terrifying content, with one character in particular delivering most of the scares.

The show tells the story of a young writer named Emma (played by Victorie Du Bois), whose recurring nightmare of an evil witch is used as inspiration for her books.

However, when Emma is drawn back to her hometown, she quickly learns that the titular spirit has entered the real world and is wreaking havoc amongst the locals.

She's also been wreaking havoc amongst the binge-watching community, with many viewers taking to Twitter to share their views on the character.

One user said: "Has anyone watched Netflix's "Marianne"? It's probably one the most bizarre shows I started watching recently. Plus the old woman in the show is f***ing creepy! #Netflix #Marianne".

Another wrote: "A few episodes into #Mariannenetflix and great acting. Where did you find that woman to play Marianne? She is creepy AF! #Marianne #netflix".

An entertainment writer chimed in on the comments, adding: "So there's a few corny bits in #Marianne on Netflix that dilute the #horror somewhat, but the scary scenes are legit unsettling and this actress is the scariest old lady I've seen on screen in forever."

Looks like director Samuel Bodin has bagged a winner in casting Mireille Herbstmeyer for the titular role.

Creepy witches aside, the show continues to fare well with audiences across the globe, drawing comparisons to other Netflix hits including the Haunting of Hill House.

"#Marianne on Netflix is on a whole nother level. Everything about the show is so damn good. The storyline, the videography, the cast, everything. Kinda has the same touch as Haunting of Hill House," commented one fan.

We agree, it's a total riot from start to finish. And if you've already binge-watched all eight episodes and are still looking for a spooky fix, why not give the streamer's latest horror flick Eerie a bash?

The movie, released earlier last month, focuses on the unexpected and gruesome death of a student, which in turn threatens the existence of an old Catholic school for girls.

It's so scary that one viewer said they were left 'screaming three times in 20 minutes', while others warned they had to 'sleep with the lights on' after watching it.

So what are you waiting for? You can watch Marianne and Eerie on Netflix right now... if you're feeling brave enough.
