The man given possibly one of the saddest character names ever - Ugly Naked Guy - said filming for Friends was 'the best time in his life'.

Jon Haugen stared as the character in two on-screen appearances, 'The One With The Giant Poking Device' and 'The One Where Everybody Finds Out', but his face was never shown on camera and he became a bit of a Friends mystery.

To add to the intrigue, the character's name never showed up on the credits and IMDB had Ugly Naked Guy listed as Michael Hagerty, who Friends fans will know played Mr Treeger - however, Hagerty always denied it was him. Hmmm.

So, someone at HuffPost spent an entire year tracking down the real Ugly Naked Guy.

And they did, so fair play to them - here he is:

Jon Haugen

When they met up with him in 2016, he said: "There's only one Ugly Naked Guy, man, and that was me.

"The reason I never came forward was because I was just keeping it mellow because Warner Brothers was keeping it mellow. They wanted everybody to have a guess who I was.

"I wasn't really expecting them to call me back for me to do it again.

"It was the best time in my life. I was the man."

With his first on-screen appearance occurring in the episode where Ross, Rachel et al fear that Ugly Naked Guy has passed away, Haugen also opened up about having to 'play dead', which doesn't sound like a barrel of laughs. He said: "It wasn't painful. The hard part was holding my breath.

"It was, like, almost two o'clock in the morning when we were filming that part and I was real tired because we had rehearsed all day.

"It was the last scene and I had to make sure I was perfect to get everybody out of there to go home."

For fans of far too much information, he also revealed that he and David Schwimmer weren't naked in the scene they shot together. They were in their boxers but were made to look like they were in the nuddy. Clever, eh?

And never mind the other cast members, Jon is down for a reunion.

"I was hoping they would bring me back and we'd do some more," he said. "Maybe we can create a buzz and get everybody back together." Here's hoping, eh, Jon?
