John Travolta's new flick - Gotti, a biopic of Italian-American gangster John Gotti - has been trashed online, picking up an unbelievable 0 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie, which follows the life of the infamous gangster, was in production for almost eight years due to a number of setbacks. Most recently it was dropped by Lionsgate just ten days before its scheduled opening, after producers wanted a bigger release than the one the distributor had planned.

The film spans 36 years and sees Travolta donning various prosthetics, hairpieces and heavy makeup as he plays the 'Teflon Don', from a 30-something-year man up to the age of 61 when he died.

Gotti was directed by Kevin Connolly (best known for playing Eric in Entourage) and also stars Travolta's real-life wife Kelly Preston as Gotti's wife Victoria.

The story of Gotti is actually a pretty interesting one, and yet based on the reviews that have been published so far it seems as though the filmmakers have managed to totally fuck it.

New York Post critic Johnny Oleksinski ripped the movie to shreds in his review, calling it 'the worst mob movie of all time', adding: "I'd rather wake up next to a severed horse head than ever watch Gotti again."

While Brian Orndorf wrote for Blu-Ray.com: "There are 44 credited producers on the picture (Good. Lord.), and not one person had the nerve to question just what kind of derivative, borderline nonsensical film was being made."

Glenn Kenny from the New York Times called it a 'multifaceted dismal mess', going on to say: "For many scenes, it seems that Mr. Connolly asked himself, 'What would Martin Scorsese do?' All his answers are wrong."

While Jordan Mintzer, from the Hollywood Reporter, wrote: "The film is pretty terrible: poorly written, devoid of tension, ridiculous in spots and just plain dull in others."

Pretty brutal. Over on IMDB its earned itself a slightly less embarrassing 5.9 out of 10. On Metacritic it has 30 out of 100 - based on the opinions of seven critics.

The movie is out in US cinemas from mid-June, but British lovers of bad films will have to wait until 17 September.
