People Think The Simpsons Predicted Greta Thunberg

It's the latest thing they have correctly guessed

The latest uncanny prediction made by The Simpsons has been unearthed, with people believing that the directors of the show predicted Greta Thunberg's climate change campaign.

Twitter has been saying that the environmental activist reminds them of Lisa Simpson for a while, but the fact that she can actually be seen campaigning in one of the episodes is a bit too much of a coincidence.

In fact, the comments on a YouTube clip where Lisa makes an impassioned speech about climate change would suggest it's been on everyone's mind.

And, as we know, it's not the first time the show has made a prediction that came true.

The Simpsons has been predicting weird stuff for years. Maybe that's because it's been running for so long, eventually they were bound to get a few things right.

With the shock election of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States, we were reminded yet again that the writers of the cartoon smashed it out of the park.

In the episode 'Bart to the Future' (which aired in March 2000), Lisa is made president. As she sits in the Oval Office, she quips: 'We've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump'.

This particular prediction didn't go unnoticed when Trump's popularity surged over the last 12 months. Writer for the show, Dan Greaney, told the Hollywood Reporter: "It was a warning to America. That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."

Matt Groening told The Guardian: "We predicted that he would be president back in 2000 - but [Trump] was of course the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that's still true. It's beyond satire."

The Simpsons have done it again. Doubt Lisa will succeed Trump but as we've learned today, anything can happen.
