Tommy Wiseau really is the gift that keeps on giving. For the uninitiated, he's the bloke who directed, produced and starred in cult flop The Room - and, later, became the inspiration for James Franco's recent flick, The Disaster Artist.

However, of all the weird and wonderful things Wiseau has done in his time, he's now done one better by uploading The Room to YouTube - yep, in its entirety.

Naturally, YouTubers went into a bit of a frenzy, and in less than 24 hours after it was uploaded, the film has already racked up over 1,000 comments.

One person wrote: "And from this day forth, YouTube would never be the same."

Another commented: "Tommy you're so generous letting people watch you're fantastic film for free. What an all-around great guy."

Someone else added: "I'd imagine Tommy posted the movie just to entertain himself with all the wacky comments people will make lol."

A fourth said: "Excuse me? The entirety of THE ROOM, officially on YouTube?? This...is a light in the darkness of the world!!!"

While the film is completely free for YouTubers to watch, Wiseau included a PayPal link in the video description so that anyone could donate a little cash should they feel like it.

The Room became an instant cult hit upon its release in 2003, becoming so-bad-it's-good thanks to everything from its dodgy plot holes and technical flaws through to Wiseau's generally bizarre performance.

But it came back into the limelight recently when it became the subject of 2017 film The Disaster Artist, James Franco's adaptation of the memoir of the same name by Wiseau's former co-star, Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell.

Franco won a Best Actor Golden Globe for his turn in the film, thanking old friends including Freaks and Geeks co-star Seth Rogan, before inviting both Wiseau to the stage to share the moment.

The two embraced, and Wiseau then went to grab the microphone to say a few words himself - but a chuckling Franco was quick to bat him off.

Well, while Franco might not have let him get the kudos for that one, he's sure getting plenty of love for uploading the full-length version of The Room to YouTube. Like we said, the gift that keeps on giving... What a guy.
