I love TV. Catching up on shows and having binges is one of my main hobbies in life (eating is the other one). But why oh why does it have to be so expensive? If you get Sky and all the sports packages you'll usually be paying around £700 a year.
It's a lot of cash to hand over to the gatekeepers of the TV and it's probably worth it. But that doesn't mean you can't cut a little off your bill.
Sky also hiked up the prices at the beginning of March, so this little trick could not come at a better time.

If you've been a loyal Sky customer for a while, you might be paying more than you need to. It's worth a look, right? And you can do it in five minutes!

All you have to do is log into your account at sky.com and find the "thinking of leaving sky" page. Don't worry, you don't have to leave, all you have to do is consider your leaving options.

At the bottom of that page at the right hand side is the subheading "Still looking to cancel?" Click on the SKY TV option underneath.
This is where the discount comes in. Sky is obviously keen to keep you, so it's going to figure out why you want to cancel your subscription. If you are eligible for a discount you will be directed to a question asking you why you want to leave Sky. All you have to do is click on "worried about the cost."
And hopefully then, if you are eligible, you get directed to a page offering you a discount on your bill. Depending on how long you've been a customer and what your current package is, you could get a 20 percent discount.

That's right - 20 percent! That's huge!

Remember to read the terms and conditions though; this is hugely important. And if you sign up for the discount you are actually signing a new contract for another year. So make sure you're OK with that!

And then make yourself a cup of tea and celebrate all the extra cash you're going to have.
You're welcome.
