Winona Ryder Says She's Married To Keanu Reeves

Some actors will go to great lengths for a role - they'll lose weight, gain weight, shave their hair off, but Winona Ryder says even got married for one of hers.

The Stranger Things star told Entertainment Weekly she married her 1992's Dracula co-star, Keanu Reeves during the making of the film, while the pair promoted upcoming movie Destination Wedding.

The 46-year-old actor said: "We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to God, I think we're married in real life."

She explained that during production of the film, director Francis Ford Coppola 'used a real Romanian priest' to preside over their character's wedding ceremony.

The ceremony was filmed from beginning to end. Ryder said: "We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we're married."

Though the Edward Scissorhands star seems to remember the day clearly, 53-year-old Reeves, didn't quite recall it happening the same romantic way.

She asked him: "Don't you remember that? It was Valentine's Day," she then replied, before he eventually surrendered: "Oh my gosh, we're married."

This isn't the first time an actor has gone to the extreme for a role.

During the making of 2004 film The Machinist, Christian Bale lost more than 60lbs to take on the role of Trevor Reznik, a character who suffered from extreme insomnia.

In 2006 cult-film V for Vendetta, 37-year-old Natalie Portman shaved all her hair for a dramatic scene in the film, where her character Evey Hammond is tested by the films anti-protagonist V.

Earlier this year, Ocean's 8 star Anne Hathaway took to social media to explain she was planning to gain weight for an upcoming job - and took the opportunity to shut down possible fat shamers.

"To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it's not me, it's you," she said.

In Destination Wedding, Ryder's and Reeves' characters' meet on - you'll never guess it - a destination wedding. Then the pair realise they have something in coming: neither one of them wants to be there.

Though the character don't initially hit it off - due to both of them being socially awkward and pessimistic - over the course of the weekend the pair eventually fall for each other.

Destination Wedding opens in cinemas on August 31.
