The first trailer for George Miller's Mad Max prequel has finally been released and it looks nothing short of incredible.

Furiosa focuses on Anya Taylor-Joy's character, who was snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers as a child and was placed into the hands of a Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus.

The movie charts her mission to return to her rightful home.

It stars Chris Hemsworth as Dementus, as well as Tom Burke, former WWE star Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, Daniel Webber and Lachy Hulme.

The trailer shows the film will be full of action amidst a desolate landscape, much like 2015's Fury Road.

After seeing the teaser, fans can't wait for it to come out.

One wrote: "Looks like peak cinema is back on the menu boys."

Another added: "DAMN! This could beat Rogue One and becoming the best prequel eve !!!!!!!!!"

A third said: "Well I think it is fair to say that this was WELL WORTH THE WAIT! Looks incredible."

Filming kicked off in Australia in the middle of last year and wrapped towards the end of September.

Director George Miller chose Taylor-Joy for the lead role after seeing her performance in an early cut of the film Last Night in Soho.

Furiosa is set to be released in cinemas across the US on May 24 next year.
