While some announcements are nothing but a bunch of hocus pocus, what’s actually true is the lead actor in Hocus Pocus helps people get high, and not with a broomstick.
If you know the US, you’ll understand that some states legalised weed not too long ago, with places like California – where Hollywood is based in Los Angeles – leading the way.
So, after turning away from his acting days, Omri Katz, who played Max Dannison in the 1993 flick, decided he wanted to get into the business of opening up a dispensary.
Katz first got his start in the entertainment biz when he was cast as John Ross Ewing III on soap opera Dallas, and after racking up more than 10 credits in the 90s, he disappeared from view.

Until now.

Katz was hired in two movies, one short film and 10 television appearances, but according to the former actor, he wasn’t prone to looking back with regret over his choice.
Speaking with his Eerie, Indiana co-star, Justin Shenkarow, on the Bronx Buds YouTube Channel last year, he said he had ‘left the industry not too long after Hocus Pocus and kind of never really looked back’.
Katz made his last appearance on television in 2002, and revealed he wanted to go more outside of the industry.
He explained: "I grew up in the industry, so that's kind of all I knew. I think I was soul searching and wanted more of a human experience; just see what else is out there, see the world, and be normal. I didn't really have that growing up."
Some of the things he did includes following The Grateful Dead band on tour for five years, and after having to get ‘a real job’ for the first time, things went on from there: to cannabis.
But while he has a totally different life to that of his Hocus Pocus days, that doesn’t mean he forgot about the beloved Halloween flick.
For example, back in 2015, he met up with co-stars Vinessa Shaw and Thora Birch, and they posted the selfie online for fans to lose their marbles over.
Then this year, Katz, Vinessa Shaw, Larry Bagby, and Tobias Jelinek reunited in Salem to recreate their graveyard scene.
“Back to Burial Hill and guess who ran into??!!” Katz wrote on Instagram alongside a video of the scene, as he, Jelinek, and Bagby rehashed their lines.
“I don’t even remember whose idea it was. In celebration of Salem’s 400th anniversary, we flew into Boston and carpooled out to Burial Hill to recreate our favorite cemetery scene,” Jelinek told Entertainment Weekly. “It was like stepping back to 1993. Completely surreal, especially because a crowd of fans gathered and cheered us along, speaking the lines with us.”
He added: “The best part was surprising fans. It was a special reminder of how much people love this film. The nostalgia just keeps growing. Omri was still a 16-year-old smart ass and Larry still needs to learn to breathe through his nose.”
Though Shaw, who played Allison, didn’t join in on the scene, she was there with the group.
Anyway, in light of all this, it doesn’t seem like the confirmed third film is any closer to coming out after a The New York Times interview saw creator Sean Bailey hint at its planning.
But that was three years ago. So, I beg: Where is it, Sean?
