Jim Carrey’s one condition to return to The Grinch as he’s reunited with Cindy Lou actor

Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen reunited at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction

Jim Carrey has made headlines after reuniting with the actor who played Cindy Lou in How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Taylor Momsen.

Carrey’s performance as The Grinch is arguably the most iconic adaptation of a Dr Seuss book in film history, leaving many fans clamouring for the green grump to be brought back for a sequel.

The Truman Show star has spoken about this possibility in the past, stating he had one condition for a possible return.

This desire for a sequel starring the pair was compounded this weekend by pictures showing Carrey and Momsen’s reunion 25 years after the film was released.

Carrey and Momsen both appeared at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the induction of the band Soundgarden, which featured speeches from both actors and performances alongside the surviving members.

Fans are often shocked to discover that, rather than follow other child stars and go on to either become famous actors or simply turn down the life of fame, Momsen instead found success as a rock and roll musician in her group, The Pretty Reckless.

Carrey stated on the event’s red carpet that she hadn’t seen Momsen since The Grinch, with her adding: “I just love that he was very protective of me. He was always very kind. And just the entire experience of filming Grinch and getting to know him so well, even in all the makeup, was just wonderful.”

Carrey has been semi-retired from acting since his comment that the only script that could bring him back would have to be a ‘script written in gold ink by angels’.

He later reprised his role as Dr Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Carrey later stated that ‘may have been hyperbole’ and joked it was because he ‘needed money’.

The actor was also asked in the past by ComicBook.com what it would take to bring him back as The Grinch, with Carrey saying: “Oh, gosh, you know, if we could figure out the Grinch.

“The thing about it is, on the day, I do that with a ton of makeup and can hardly breathe. It was an extremely excruciating process.

“The children were in my mind all the time. ‘It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids.’

“Now, with motion capture and things like that, I could be free to do other things. Anything is possible in this world.”

His reps, however, shot down the idea a couple of years ago, telling People: “There is no truth to Jim reprising his role as the Grinch in a sequel to The Grinch.”

When it comes to Hollywood, though, you can never truly say never when it comes to sequels.
