The first official clip of the Joker sequel Joker: Folie a Deux has given us the first full look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.

The first clip shows Lady Gaga's Harley and Joaquin's Phoenix Joker interacting in Arkham Asylum.

Joker 2 will see Lady Gaga take over the role of Harley Quinn, with it previously having been played by Margot Robbie and Kaley Cuoco (with Cuoco playing the animated Harley).

The first proper look at her interpretation has been hotly awaited by fans.

One tweeted in reply to DiscussingFilm's post of the clip saying: "Lady Gaga is a perfect cast".

Another said: "oh gaga is TAKING it… shes born for this role".

Her role in Joker 2 will be particularly well suited to Lady Gaga, with director Todd Phillips having confirmed the sequel will be a jukebox musical.

While many fans were disappointed with this fact, if you're casting for a jukebox musical, there is perhaps no one better in the world than Lady Gaga for that part.

The clip refers to an iconic scene from the first film in which The Joker, for which Joaquin Phoenix won the Oscar for Best Actor, shoots Murray Franklin in the head.

Lady Gaga's Quinn describes watching the interviewer, played by Robert De Niro, and wanting him to be shot in the head.

The clip has had fans beyond excited for the film, releasing next month.

One viewer tweeted: "I’m 100% sure on lady Gaga as Harley Quinn , she will rule this movie."

Another said: "This makes me even more excited to see this film!"

As we mentioned previously, the sequel is set to be a jukebox musical.

This means that Joker and Harley are set to belt out popular songs, with Variety reporting there will be as many as 15 covers, with the potential for originals to be added.

Variety reported that 'Insiders privy to filming and early versions of Todd Phillips’ eagerly awaited sequel to Joker tell Variety the movie leans heavily towards being 'mostly a jukebox musical'.'

They went on to say: "It integrates at least 15 reinterpretations of 'very well-known' songs.

"One is said to be 'That’s Entertainment' from the 1953 musical The Band Wagon, famously associated with Judy Garland. However, there is a door open for an original song (or two) to be added to the final version."

This news split fans upon its release, with one tweeting: "Joker 2 as a musical is literally the most chaotic decision any movie studio has ever made. every one that was excited for a sequel is mad. every one that thought a sequel was unnecessary is excited. pure chaos. you love to see it".
