Margot Robbie has spoken about one of her most popular scenes from The Wall of Wall Street, clarifying why she wanted to do it nude.

The Australian actor's breakout role was in the 2013 hit film, centred around stock broker Jordan Belfort's rise and fall in the 1990s, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill.

Robbie plays Jordan Belfort's (DiCaprio) wife, Naomi Lapaglia, real name Nadine Macaluso, in the title, who was married to Belfort for 14 years in real life.

In the film, we see the quick rise and fall of the relationship, mostly due to Belfort's infidelity and drug use, but the actress shined in her scenes on screen.

One of them is the infamous nursery scene, where Robbie's character punishes Belfort for cheating by not wearing any underwear around the house, though Macaluso has since refuted the claims that this happened.

Robbie revealed recently that there was meant to be more to the scene, where she was meant to use her heel to take her underwear off, something she described as 'impossible'.

But now, in a fresh interview, she has once again touched on her famous full-frontal nude scene in the movie.

Speaking to Ben Makiewicz, as part of his Turner Classic Movies podcast Talking Pictures, she spoke about moving from an Australian soap in Neighbours to Hollywood, and how it was to star in and produce Barbie, among other things.

Robbie said that Scorsese, now 82, suggested that she could wear a robe in the seductive scene, where Lapaglia leads an already married Belfort up to her apartment.

The Academy Award nominee admitted though, that she turned the offer down, revealing: “(Scorsese) said, ‘Maybe you can be wearing a robe if you’re not comfortable.’ But that’s not what she would do in that scene.”

Despite being just 22 at the time, she went ahead with the choice to be nude, while previously admitting that she had 'a couple shots of tequila' before the scene as she felt 'very nervous'.

Robbie further explained: “The whole point is that she’s going to come out completely naked - that’s the card she’s playing right now.”

The ultimate power move.

However, the bold moves didn't start there, as she revealed on the podcast that she actually slapped DiCaprio in the audition, despite the script saying to kiss him.

Robbie recalled: “I thought, ‘I could kiss Leonardo DiCaprio right now, and that would be awesome. I can’t wait to tell all of my friends this.’ And then I thought, ‘Nah.’ And just walloped him in the face.”

“It was dead silent for what felt like an eternity but was probably three seconds,

“(DiCaprio and Scorsese) just burst out laughing. Leo and Marty were laughing so hard. They said, ‘That was great,’” she said.

Robbie even thought she could be arrested for assault, and thought she'd hit him too hard, but it turned out to be the right move, as she got the part.
