Margot Robbie spoke to the ex-wife of the real-life Wolf of Wall Street before one of the movie’s iconic scenes.

If you can believe it, it’s been over 12 years since the certified classic film was released, with it still being many fans’ absolute favourite.

With Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role, the Martin Scorsese blockbuster is based on Jordan Belfort’s memoir, documenting his wild career working in New York City and the corruption and fraud of Wall Street.

And as even those who somehow haven’t seen the flick can guess, that of course means featuring a whole load of drink, drugs, sex and profanities.

I mean, plenty of the film just seems too mad to be true but Belfort’s ex-wife, Nadine Macaluso, says that ’90 percent’ of it is accurate.

During the movie, we see the fast rise and fall of the pair’s relationship, with the likes of the infamous nursery scene.

In this, Robbie’s character punishes the Wolf for cheating by not wearing any underwear around the house. Although, Macaluso has since denied this actually happened.

The actor revealed there was meant to be even more to the scene as she was supposed to use her heel to take off the underwear, which she found ‘impossible’.

But a particularly iconic moment features Robbie in her birthday suit trying to convince Belfort they're 'not gonna be friends', prompting him to cheat on his first wife.

Why did Margot Robbie opt to do it nude?

During the Talking Pictures podcast, the Barbie star said Scorsese had suggested she could wear a robe in the scene if she wasn’t comfortable but she decided to go with it.

Previously speaking to IndieWire, Robbie explained that there are times when the nudity is just ‘for the sake of nudity’ and she doesn’t agree with it.

“But when the nudity is warranted, I totally agree with it and don’t think there’s anything shameful in that,” she said. “If it’s justified and the character would do it then it should be there.

“In this case, [sex is] Naomi’s power over Jordan and that’s her only way of getting what she wants. That’s her form of currency in a world of millionaires when she comes from nothing.

"The only way of creating a better life for herself and getting what she wants is the fact that she’s aware of this sexual power she has over men, and especially over Jordan.”

She added that if there’s ‘ever a time to do nudity’ then it’s ‘in the hands of’ Scorsese who will do ‘it tastefully’.

While Macaluso said on the Anything Goes with James English podcast that she had ‘zero’ input on the film, she did meet with Robbie.

She even taped her accent so the then 22-year-old Aussie could study it in her preparation to ‘nail’ the role.

And the ex-wife adds that Robbie said she had reservations about taking off her clothes for the sene with DiCaprio.

"That feeling that you feel right there Margot, speaking truth to power, is what I felt my whole marriage, so think about that when you're doing your role," she recalled telling the actor.
