Matt Damon's female stunt double responds to him saying she has 'the greatest arms he's ever seen'

The Odyssey hasn’t failed to surprise people with just how much of it is actually ‘real’.

Directed by Christopher Nolan and filled with his usual amazing movie magic, there’s the likes of the fully practical body horror scene and the mega puppet used for the Cyclops.

And one thing in particular seeming to surprise is that Matt Damon’s double at one point was a female stunt worker and actor, Devyn Dalton.

She featured in the Laestrygonians scene, where it appeared that Odysseus (Damon) and his army had to fight giants. But instead, Nolan simply used shorter doubles to contrast the much taller tribe.

Damon explained the ‘forced perspective stuff’ on the Happy Sad Confused podcast as he said his double had ‘the greatest arms I’ve ever seen’.

And now Dalton has spoken to LADbible as those comments go viral, calling it a ‘huge compliment’.

The Canadian, who measures in at four foot six inches, says it was ‘exciting’ to be part of such a huge project as Damon’s comments have further shone a light on the work of stunt performers.

The Odysseus actor was chatting to host Josh Horowitz on the podcast when it was pointed out that there was some great ‘bicep work’ going on in The Odyssey.

“When we did the forced perspective stuff of the Laestrygonians — I don’t know if there’s been a thing about how we did it — there were these stunt men who were all seven feet,” Damon explained of the giant warriors.

“And then they got stuntmen who were under five feet, and so my double was a woman, a female stunt performer, who had the greatest arms I’ve ever seen.”

This quickly went viral online, plunging Dalton into the spotlight for her work on the film.

So, LADbible asked her what her response to Damon’s comments are and the stunt double says: “I've worked in film for years and have been fortunate to be part of some incredible productions.

“I never thought my biceps would become my biggest headline... but here we are! It was a huge compliment, and it's been a lot of fun.”

Dalton says that every project she is ‘a chance to learn, grow and create lasting memories’.

And she adds that it’s ‘definitely a résumé highlight’ to be the stunt double for one of Hollywood’s biggest leading men – let alone in one of the biggest films of the year.

“It's not something you see every day, but it does happen,” she explains.

“Stunt performers are chosen for the best physical match, regardless of gender. It's a great reminder that this job is about skill, athleticism and bringing a character to life.”

Dalton isn’t sharing too much intel of what went on set because she wants to keep the ‘’ behind-the-scenes secrets behind the scenes’ but says it was an ‘incredible experience’.

But Damon did go and give her a hug in the catering tent and thanked her for ‘all the work she put in’.

“So there are those shots in the movie where you see these giants looming over me, and so it was almost 100 percent my arms in the movie, but you gotta give it up where it’s due,” he added.

Adding the absolute blockbuster epic (featuring her biceps) to her credits, Dalton adds: “I've always focused on letting my work speak for itself. If my career inspires more women to pursue stunts, that's something I'm really proud of.”

The Odyssey is currently in cinemas.
