A trailer has dropped for the sequel to a ‘chilling’ horror film that had fans screaming out in terror.

The movie, which is the final instalment in what one viewer said might be their 'favorite horror trilogy ever', has an absolutely stacked cast.

It picks up six years after the original film, as we're reunited with the sole survivor of a massacre on the set of a porn movie.

You can watch the action-packed trailer below:

The new movie is a follow-up to X, the 2022 film starring Mia Goth and Jenna Ortega which received a near perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 94 percent.

X itself already received a prequel in Pearl, which served as an origin story for Goth’s character Pearl, and also received a ridiculous Rotten Tomatoes score of 93 percent.

Now it's time for the third instalment, MaXXXine and it has the starriest cast of any of the three.

Joining Mia Goth is Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito, Tenet’s Elizabeth Debicki, Kevin Bacon, and music stars Halsey and Moses Sumney.

Add to the mix Lily Collins, Michelle Monaghan, and Bobby Canavale, and you have an absolutely ridiculous set of actors for a horror film.

Horror fans are ecstatic for the trailer, as director Ti West returns for a third time in what looks to have the potential to be the best of the trilogy.

One fan responded to the trailer on X (formerly known as Twitter) to say: “IT LOOKS F*****G AMAZING".

Another said: “This might be my favorite horror trilogy ever by the time it’s finished omg.”

Mia Goth plays both Pearl and Maxine in X, and will continue the role of Maxine in this direct sequel.

‘Epic Film Guys’ said: “I’m in love with the giallo and early 80’s De Palma vibes in MaXXXine. Has a real Body Double feel to it.

“It was already highly anticipated, and it just shot right to the top of my list. It looks incredible.”

The film goes on to make references to another horror classic, as the iconic Bates Hotel from Psycho is briefly shown.

The trailer shows Goth’s Maxine making it to Hollywood, following on from her time as an aspirational pornographic actor in X.

MaXXXine picks up in 1985, six years after the events of X.

While it is unclear how much the true story will play a part, the horrific murders of the ‘Night Stalker’, a real-life California serial killer, are mentioned.

The Night Stalker was a serial killer and sex offender called Richard Ramirez who went on a spree of crimes between 1984 and 1985, where he was captured by police.

He died in 2013.

His crimes are referenced by Halsey’s character Tabby, but it hints that Maxine may actually be behind some of the murders in this film.

The A24 film comes out on August 9 of this year in the UK.

X and Pearl are both available for purchase on Amazon Prime to catch up before MaXXXine releases.
