Fans have been left divided over the new Superman suit as a first look at upcoming film has dropped.
With filming for James Gunn’s Superman currently underway, the writer-director shared a sneak peek at star David Corenswet in costume as the legendary hero.
The new movie was originally titled Superman: Legacy, but Gunn revealed a few months ago that he was cutting it down to just Superman.

With The Politician star in the titular role, the upcoming film also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as villain Lex Luther.
And while all these characters might sound so familiar, the Man of Steel himself doesn’t look so pristine and perfect as many fans might be used to.
Instead, the first look at Corenswet sees Superman looking pretty dirty and weathered – so the hero must be really getting to it in the film.
Gunn also added on Threads that this behind-the-scenes snap ‘was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely in-camera’.
And fans are pretty split on their opinions of the new suit, as one wrote on X: “Not 100 percent on the vibe, wanted a little more fabric looking but still nice.”
Another claimed it was 'bulky, weird lines, neck looks weird', adding: “Wanted it to be sleeker.”
As others simply put: “This suit is not it.”
Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “What the heck is this Halloween-ah suit,” as another agreed: “It’s a lil rubbery ain’t it.”
But on the other side, many users were highly in favour, as one social media user said: “Ok, that does look better. I will admit.
“Also homie looks JUST like Henry Cavill.”
And others even really seemed to praise it as they put: “IT’S PERFECT OH MY GOD,” while another said: "He looks incredible!!!!"
While others who have really taken a close look have also spotted that ‘David Corenswet’s Superman will have the trunks’ as they noticed that the staple part of the classic hero’s costume is featured.
“I see trunks!” one person excitedly said, as another said the photo is ‘actually beautiful’.
A third wrote: “Pretty close to Superman: Man of Tomorrow.”
And a fourth said: "He looks GOOD, I can’t wait for this."
The first look has got many excited for the film, however, as they ‘hope DC doesn’t fumble this movie’, with one writing: “What is James Gunn cooking?”
Gunn’s Superman is set to be released next July, 2025.
