A terrifying new horror film has left a film fan ‘crying’ with others even calling it the ‘most disturbing horror film of the year’.

That is in itself a huge claim, with 2024 so far being a great year for horror films.

Whether it be Late Night With the Devil, Immaculate, or Abigail, the horror genre has been pumping out banger after banger so far.

This new horror though is a disturbing watch that has had fans in tears.

It follows an FBI agent, assigned to solve a serial killer case – in which things get creepy and occulty.

Beyond that – very little is public about the film so far, because the trailer is bizarrely creepy, but does little to reveal things before the film which – trust us, you want to go into blind.

Check out the trailer here:

The film is called Longlegs, and features Nicolas Cage in a thoroughly creepy role opposite Maika Monroe.

The trailer had fans raving, with the top comment being: “The decision to never actually show Nicolas Cage in the trailer but only using his bone-chilling voice is absolutely intriguing... The most mesmerizing horror trailer I've seen since Hereditary”.

A review from a critic who saw the movie this past weekend however points to the trailer just being the tip of the iceberg for Longlegs.

They posted on X (formerly known as Twitter): “It’s as if Longlegs was forged in Hell by Satan, who brought it as an artifact into our world as a gift.

“Osgood Perkins’ film is the real f*cking shit. Mischievous, steadied tension build, SCARY & SICK AF.

“Maika Monroe is terrific. Nicolas Cage is in pure weirdo mode.”

Courtney Howard, the critic in question, went on to say: “If you were wondering: Yes, I didn’t sleep well last night after seeing Longlegs and, yes, I had bad dreams.

For a horror movie, that’s about as good an endorsement as you can get.

Another fan who saw the film recently said: “no lie. Longlegs was so insane that a woman behind us started crying halfway thru lmao 10/10 movie”.

The director may have been previously best known as the actor who played ‘Dorky David’ in Legally Blonde, but Osgood Perkins has now created what is being hailed by many as the best horror movie of the year.

Matt Landsman went even further however, calling it potentially the best of the decade.

They said: “Longlegs is phenomenal. A journey into the abyss that’s going to take multiple viewings to absorb all of its ominous clues and details.

“Nic Cage is truly terrifying. The horror movie of the year and quite possibly the decade so far. Oz Perkins is operating on another level.”

By all accounts one thing is clear. Go in as blind as you can but make certain you see this film as soon as possible.

Longlegs releases in July of 2024.
