Oscars guest reveals mystery item and note discovered under their seats before ceremony

'Star/Seat Fillers' at the Oscars got a surprise note under their seats on Sunday evening (2 March)

The 97th Academy Awards welcomed a fine array of cinematic talent on Sunday evening (2 March) as guests took to their seats to find a surprise package.

While independent film Anora emerged as the standout movie of the night by securing five Oscars, before the event, attendees were greeted with a little treat.

'What's in the box?'

So it seems Oscars host Conan O'Brien left a little 'snack box' under everyone's seats, alongside a cheeky note.

Thankfully, there were no human heads on show.

"Dear Star/Seat Filler," the note, written by the 61-year-old, began.

"I hope you enjoy these complimentary snacks.

"I tried my best to include a gummy but Disney said that was a 'hard pass'

"Have a great night, Conan."

Attendee Ramin Setoodeh, the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Variety, wrote on X: "There’s a note from Conan under every #Oscars seat with a snack box of water and a pretzel."

"Wait this is so cute of him, I’m sure they appreciated this!" one of Conan's fans replied, as another added: "Bro this the first time in years that he’s drawn his little caricature :(."

A third fan also said what we were all thinking: "Are they all the same copied and printed or did he handwrite them individually because he is both funny and genuine enough to do that?"

Someone else replied: "I don't think he'd have the time to handwrite hundreds of notes lol."

Well, before Conan got up on stage, he weirdly 'crawled out' of Demi Moore's body in the style of her character from The Substance.

Viewers were pretty divided by it, as one person wrote: "Yeah sooooo this opening substance monologue is actually offensive but ok #Oscars2025."

A second tweeted: "Please, this stupid man."

Others, meanwhile, loved it, as someone else said: "Conan doing The Substance… it’s so wild and fun having an Oscars host who actually watches the movies."

Another commented: "That The Substance opening was funny! I'm having fun!"

Also on the night, Conan joked about Drake and Kendrick Lamar's highly publicised beef, referencing the LA rapper's recent performance at the Super Bowl.

He said: "Well, we're halfway through the show, which means it's time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a p**dophile."

The joke shocked viewers, with one saying: "DRAKE CATCHING STRAYS AT THE OSCARS TOO???????????"

Another added: "Not Drake catching strays at the Oscars as well."

A third tweeted: "Did Conan just say it’s time to for Kendrick to come up and call drake a p**dophile."
