Tommy's youngest and only daughter Ruby may have died in season six, but the Shelby family leader is still very much haunted by the loss of his child during the events of The Immortal Man.
While Tommy is living as a recluse and writing his memoir in the early parts of the the film we see that he is very much troubled by the death of Ruby and has regular visions of the seven-year-old wandering through his decaying country manor.
Who plays Ruby Shelby in Peaky Blinders?
The role of Ruby was recast numerous times throughout the series, with actors Heaven-Leigh Clee and Orla McDonagh playing the character in seasons five and six respectively.

Bonnie Stott then takes over the role as ghostly Ruby in The Immortal Man – and fans of British crime dramas will more than likely recognise her face.
Prior to taking over the role of Ruby, Stott was part of the cast of BBC series Happy Valley, with her character Poppy Hepworth having a similarly sad storyline.
Poppy is the daughter of Joanna Hepworth (Mollie Winnard), who is brutally killed in season three.
Meanwhile Poppy's character caught the attention of fans due to the fact that she never takes her coat off during the show, regardless of whether or not she's inside.

The detail is one which has been picked up on by numerous fans, with Winnard previously telling Metro in 2023 that it's a comfort blanket for the youngster to cope with the abusive household she grows up in.
"It’s actually a trauma thing, so it’s a [protective] layer," she said.
"[The coat] is definitely to protect [herself] because of what she’s living in, the environment that she’s living in."
What happens to Ruby Shelby in Peaky Blinders?
The youngster dies of consumption (tuberculosis) in season six, with Tommy becoming convinced that her illness and eventual death were caused by a curse placed by Evadne Barwell in response to a cursed sapphire necklace of Tommy's making its way into her family and killing her daughter Connie.
Her passing has a profound impact on Tommy and his actions going forward, meaning that it's unsurprising to see Ruby appear in the film from beyond the grave.

As for landing the role of Ruby, Stott previously revealed to BBC that she wasn't aware of the show's popularity until after she was cast.
"I didn't know Peaky Blinders was a big deal until I got a starring role," she said.
"After I had done the film everyone was like 'Oh my god you're in Peaky Blinders' and I was like 'Oh, is it a big deal?'"
