Another weekend, another swanky awards show to provide us with a solid selection of viral memes. And this time it was no other than Ryan Gosling who took the spotlight for his reaction to bagging a win.

Gosling - along with a whole host of other famous faces - flocked to the red carpet last night (14 January) for the 2024 Critics Choice Awards at Santa Monica's Barker Hanger.

And it was certainly a night to remember for the Barbie actor, who took home the gong for Best Song at the star-studded event.

Barbie caused waves in pop culture last year, having been released on the same day as the highly anticipated Oppenheimer and outperforming it in the box office.

Margot Robbie starred in the film alongside Gosling, as well as several other Hollywood A-Listers, which helped to boost the performance of the flick.

The film was nominated for 18 categories at the Critics' Choice Awards, the most of any film or series.

As the single most popular film worldwide in 2023, Barbie grossed over $1.44 billion at the box office, truly living up to the hype leading up to its release.

Despite this, Oppenheimer came away from the awards on Sunday night with the most wins with eight, while Barbie claimed a respectful six.

One of the wins stood out though, as one of the songs of the summer 'I'm Just Ken' won Best Original Song at the awards, beating out Billie Eilish's 'What was I made for?' and Dua Lipa's 'Dance the night away'.

The other five wins came in the categories of: Best comedy, best original screenplay, best costume design, best production design and best hair and makeup.

But what really stood out was the hilarious reaction from Gosling, who sang the winning song.

The 43-year-old looked visibly confused, slightly deadpan and in shock, with a clip that is tipped to be one of the next great reaction GIFs.

Upon winning the award, songwriter Mark Ronson stated: "Ryan Gosling, this is just as much your award as ours. You made the audience fall in love with this song with your performance."

Gosling did not go on stage to accept the award, with writers Ronson and Andrew Wyatt accepting the award, however fans have started theorising as to why Gosling reacted the way he did.

One user posted on X, saying: "I wonder if Ryan Gosling is terrified at the idea he might actually have to sing "I'm Just Ken" at the #Oscars."

"Ryan Gosling's realization he might be forced to sing I'm Just Ken at the Oscars," added another.

A third wrote: "the realisation hit him that he may have to perform this at the oscars."

Someone else jokingly said: "I thought Billie was gonna win too"

Someone else said: "bro was flabbergasted" with three laughing emojis.

Whether or not Gosling will be performing his hit song at the Oscars, I'm sure we can all agree we'd love to see it.
