Scarlett Johansson is no longer the highest-grossing box office actor of all time as her crown has been taken by someone else.
She was previously the most successful actor in Hollywood history with films featuring her getting bums in cinema seats once they've paid an extortionate amount for a drink and snack.
However, nothing lasts forever and she's been dethroned by another big name who also also demonstrated a knack for appearing in the kinds of movies people show up in their droves for.
According to The Numbers, Johansson still occupies the second spot having appeared in movies with a combined worldwide box office total of $16,435,483,784 from 56 projects, her participation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe being responsible for the biggest hitters on the list.

Other high-grossing films in her career include her recent appearance in Jurassic World Rebirth, the movie Sing and its sequel along with her voice work in the live action remake of The Jungle Book where she played the snake Kaa.
However, she's been supplanted by Avatar star Zoe Saldaña who has also managed to rake in that sweet MCU money for her role as the alien warrior Gamora both in the Avengers films and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
Saldaña's participation in the new Star Trek movies, her part in the first Pirates of the Caribbean film and of course the box office juggernaut that is the Avatar films means she's just surpassed Johansson in terms of worldwide box office haul.
She's got a grand total of $16,859,193,100 across 48 projects, meaning she's now the biggest box office star in cinema.

Insofar as this matters to either actor there really are no losers here when it comes to silver and gold, both women have clearly enjoyed a successful acting career and been in films that pulled in the punters.
As you might expect there are plenty of other MCU stars who follow behind them in the top 10.
Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr. take the third and fourth spots and with their expected participation in Avengers: Doomsday (you'd hope Downey Jr. shows up considering he's playing the villain) they could soon rise even higher, while Chris Pratt rounds out the top five.
It takes a movie star of the magnitude of Tom Cruise in sixth place to have someone who wasn't an MCU star, while Vin Diesel rides the Fast and Furious franchise into eighth place as he's in an enviable position sandwiched between Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans.

These lists also show how box office audiences and ticket prices have inflated in recent years as Harry Potter leading man Daniel Radcliffe is down in position 24.
He's not likely to mind considering he's been enjoying huge success in his career and seems to be picking movies that are fun to do.
