Throughout his childhood and teenage years, Sterling Knight was a regular fixture on the Disney Channel.
He starred as Chad Dylan Cooper in the sitcom Sonny with a Chance, opposite Demi Lovato, and its spin-off So Random!, as well as TV film Starstruck.
Outside of his work for Disney, Knight also featured in 17 Again, Melissa & Joey and a guest appearance in Grey's Anatomy.
However, not every young actor goes on to have a long and glittering career, with the likes of Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Sabrina Carpenter being the exception rather than the norm in the world of child acting.

This doesn't mean that Knight has left the industry altogether, as the 37-year-old recently popped up in Prime Video's new romcom 40 Dates and 40 Nights – an appearance which surprised several viewers.

Credited as #date 2, Knight only had a small role in the film - which follows Leah agreeing to go on 40 days in 40 days in exchange for her grandmother paying a year's worth of her rent - appearing as, you guessed it, one of Leah's many suitors.
A clip from his appearance was shared on Instagram by user @melaniesugert, who couldn't believe her eyes when Knight popped up on screen.
"Is this the same guy from Starstruck?" she asked her followers, adding: "Because I'm Starstruck-ed right now."
Melanie wasn't the only person surprised by his appearance either, with several commenters surprised to see Chad Cooper all grown up.
"Literally just saw this clip right before this and it is sending me!!! I went back and forth a few times in disbelief," wrote one commenter.
"Dude I was like 'why does he look SO familiar'," penned a second, while a third joked: "When Sonny doesn't give you a chance."
Knight isn't the only former child star in the film either, as Leah is played by Bailee Madison, who appeared in Bridge to Terabithia and Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place while growing up.
What is Sterling Knight up to now?
Before appearing in 40 Dates, Knight's last film credit was 2022's It Snows All the Time, while his last TV appearance came nearly a decade ago.
He is also reported to have a cameo account, however he doesn't appear to have posted in several years.
Knight is not particularly active on social media either, with his last post being a poignant tribute to his late 17 Again co-stars Michelle Trachtenberg and Matthew Perry.

"Tomorrow is not guaranteed and it’s important to tell those close to you that you love them and appreciate them as often as possible," he wrote.
"Michelle was generous, kind, and beyond helpful to me as I navigated my first big movie. I had grown up watching her (as we all did) and she always had time for me if I had questions or was struggling. I’ll never forget hanging out with Matthew and Michelle in her trailer, for hours, talking about life and work, lessons and wisdom they had picked up. Bit of a combo update/gratitude post, but thanks again to everyone and I’m feeling much better. Miss you Michelle. Love y’all."
