Timothée Chalamet has broken a longstanding Oscars record as he is nominated for Best Actor.
Chalamet is currently won of the favourites to win for his role in Marty Supreme as Marty Mauser, with his nomination setting him up to potentially receive his first ever Oscar.
The celebrity, whose press tour for Marty Supreme has received almost as much praise as his acting, previously lost out for his roles in Call Me by Your Name and A Complete Unknown.
By being nominated for the new Josh Safdie film about a ping pong sensation however he has made Oscars history in two different ways.

Firstly, Chalamet has become the youngest person since Marlon Brando in 1954 to receive a third Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

This places him amongst the company of cinematic greats, with Will Smith, Joaquin Phoenix, Gary Oldman, and Humphrey Bogart all having received three Best Actor nominations.
The other record breaking aspect of the announcement is that Chalamet has become the youngest actor to appear in eight different Best Picture nominees.
Eight out of Chalamet’s 24 feature film projects have been Best Picture nominees: Call Me By Your Name, Lady Bird, Little Women, Dune, Don't Look Up, Dune: Part Two, A Complete Unknown and now Marty Supreme.
The actor's controversial speech from last year's SAG Awards in which he said he was someone 'in pursuit of greatness' may have received criticism, but the young actor appears to be living up to his own promises.

Chalamet's nomination saw The Rock miss out for The Smashing Machine, with Sinners leading the way with shock nominations for Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo.
Sinners also broke a longstanding Oscar record which was held by Titanic, La La Land, and 1950's All About Eve which all received 14 Oscar nominations.
Sinners meanwhile received an incredible 16 nominations, marking the most Oscar nominations any film has ever received.
