Tom Felton admits he ‘nearly killed’ Alan Rickman during Harry Potter scene

Felton and Rickman were acting as Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape on the Harry Potter set at the time of the incident

Tom Felton once ‘nearly killed’ Alan Rickman whilst the pair were filming a scene in one of the Harry Potter movies.

Felton obviously played Draco Malfoy in the movie adaptation of JK Rowling’s books, and therefore shared a lot of screentime with Rickman, who played Severus Snape.

Snape, the Potions master and later the Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts was also the head of Slytherin house, which is where Malfoy was placed by the Sorting Hat.

The pair then both joined up with the evil Lord Voldemort, meaning that they spent a lot more time in each other’s company.

On one occasion though, Felton seemed to find himself on the wrong side of Rickman’s temper.

To be fair to the actor – who tragically died in 2016 after being diagnosed with cancer – he was wearing a cloak that would choke him around the neck if someone stood on it, so he perhaps had a right to be a little annoyed.

Felton speaks about him with great fondness, too, so it was clearly nothing too serious.

Anyway, in a video released towards the end of last year, Felton explained how he and Rickman ended up in their brief spat.

The actor – now 35-years-old – said: “I was told in no uncertain terms by Alan Rickman, ‘don’t step on my f***ing cloak’.

“I sort of giggled, the Death Eaters and I looked at each other [like] ‘is he joking?’

“It quickly became apparent that he was definitely not joking.

“The next take, the director was very keen for me to walk as close as I can to Alan, and we got about half way down the Great Hall before [mimes getting choked around the neck].

“You have to bear in mind that his cloak was attached around his neck.

“[I] nearly killed the poor man.

“Then he turned around again and gave me a look that you never ever want to see.

“Very luckily, the next take someone else stepped on his cloak, so that kind of took the heat away from me.

“But, I’ll never forget the words ‘don’t step on my f***ing cloak’."

We'll have to assume this is the face that he pulled.

Felton revealed this particular on-set tale while promoting his book, in which this and many other stories feature.

It’s called ‘Beyond The Wand’ and it tells the tale of his journey from a young child actor to one of the most recognisable faces from one of the world’s biggest ever film franchises.

The book came out in October 2022 and has been very well received, as you might imagine.
