The latest casting for the Harry Potter series has been announced, including who will play Draco Malfoy.

With nine more actors confirmed in total, they join the list of stars lined up for the highly-anticipated HBO show, including Nick Frost, Paapa Essiedu and John Lithgow.

Dominic McLaughlin was also recently announced to be stepping into Daniel Radcliffe's shoes to play the Boy Wizard, joined by Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

Potterheads had been speculating that Tom Felton would be returning to the Wizarding World to play Lucius Malfoy, with him recently breaking his silence on the controversy surrounding JK Rowling.

However, it seems those wishes from fans have been unanswered as a different British actor has been confirmed for the role in the Harry Potter series.

Lovesick star Johnny Flynn will be playing the evil father as Lox Pratt takes on the role of young Draco.

Although he is not yet slated to be appearing in this TV adaptation of the popular novels, Felton is instead reprising his role in the spin-off stage production, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, at New York's Lyric Theatre later this year.

The actor told Variety that he is 'incredibly grateful' to Rowling.

"The only thing I always remind myself is that I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world — here I am in New York — and I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter. She’s responsible for that," he explained.

While she denies it, the author has been repeatedly accused of making transphobic comments and in a previous interview with The Times, Felton stated: "I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-life. I’m pro-discussion. I’m pro-love. I don’t tend to pick sides."

The new Malfoys will also be joined by IT Crowd and Rivals star Katherine Parkinson, who has been cast as Molly Weasley.

The Dursley parents have also been announced with Bel Powley as Petunia and Daniel Rigby as Vernon. The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, will be played by Babylon and Doctor Foster actor Bertie Cavel.

More casting for the Hogwarts students has also been confirmed, with Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown.

HBO say the new series 'will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter books'.

The nine names now added to the Harry Potter line-up join Lithgow as Dumbledore, Essiedu as Severus Snape, Frost as Hagrid, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall and Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell.
