First trailer for Venom 3 has dropped

Venom 3 has dropped the first trailer featuring Tom Hardy returning as the Marvel character

The first trailer for the third Venom film, Venom: The Last Dance is here.

Three years after the release of the second film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, it has been rumoured that Sony are rounding out the trilogy with Tom Hardy as the alien symbiote in the upcoming film.

You can view the full trailer here:

As well as Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Stephen Graham, and Peggy Lou can be spotted in the new trailer, which shows character Eddie Brock and Venom on a life-threatening adventure, with the Marvel movie being directed by Kelly Marcel.

The first film of the trilogy came out in 2018, when Hardy took on the role of journalist Eddie Brock for the first time, that transforms into the unpredictable and violent Venom at night.

It followed how Venom started out as a parasite that took over Brock's body, forcing him to meet its needs before eventually developing a symbiotic relationship.

Simply titled Venom, the movie grossed an impressive $856 million (£672 million) at the worldwide box office, and was followed up by Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021, which drew in a handsome $502 million (£394 million), though it was significantly less successful than its predecessor.

The third instalment to the franchise is set to hit theatres on 25 October this year.

The announcement of the third film was confirmed by Sony at CinemaCon two years ago, following the success of the previous films, though Hardy has hinted towards this being his final run out as Eddie Brock.

The actor said to Digital Spy in 2021: "These things [usually] come in threes.

"I think it's really important, if you go into something, thinking that one, two and three are the same...the same story, the same film,

"So that you don't surprise yourself by being caught out by suddenly having to do a third from nowhere."

He added: "There's got to be some continuity into a third and fourth and fifth, and if somebody says 'no', that's fine. Let it go, and you move on to something else," he concluded.

But this hasn't stopped people from theorising about an appearance for the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as a mid0credits scene in Venom: Let There Be Carnage showed Eddie and Venom being transported into a universe where J Jonah Jameson reveal's Spiderman's real identity, like he did at the end of Spiderman: Far From Home.

It opened the door to the possibility of Hardy serving as an antagonist to Tom Holland's Peter Parker, though, this is all talk for now.

All that we know is that the third Venom film will be coming to our screens in October.
