Rockstar drops official GTA 6 gameplay giving gamers extended look at game
Gamers have finally managed to catch an official glimpse of the highly anticipated GTA 6 after the extended look has now been released.
With an exclusive window of six hours on Netflix after airing at 8pm on August 27, Rockstar finally showed off the game they've been working on for 13 years in all its glory.
The gameplay trailer is the first sanctioned look at GTA 6 since the second trailer released over a year ago on May 6, 2025, though a series of leaks over the past week did serve to undermine it.
Taking us back to Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida, the extended look shows Jason and Lucia visiting a trap house about to do sort of drug bust.

The mission sees Jason and Lucia walk into an apartment, looking to complete a job for local businessman and night club owner Boobie Ike.
The pair are then seen getting ready for another action-packed mission in Lucia's apartment.
It's safe to say that the game-play looks stunning as Rockstar producers revealed earlier this week that players can interchange between Jason and Lucia during a mission.
Fans are seriously excited by the gameplay, with one person commenting: "GTA 6 graphics looks absolutely next level! The haters must be crying right now."
"I genuinely don’t think we’ve seen a game move and react like GTA VI before," another penned.
"The character animations, physics, facial expressions, and tiny interactions all blend together so naturally that the world feels alive rather than scripted."
In a new interview with Dazed, developers revealed new details about the most highly anticipated game of all time.
“We look back at our previous games with a critical eye,” said Rob Nelson, head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North.
“And see where we want to evolve based on what we didn’t do as well as we would have liked to, either because we didn’t have the time, resources, or technological capabilities, or in some cases things we just didn’t do as well or consider as fully as we could have. A lot of what we do is very iterative – we adjust a lot of things by feel based on what is working and what isn’t.”
Confirmed GTA 6 game details
The trailer also confirmed some key game details, including gameplay features and aspects of the story, including:
- Jason Duval is an ex-military drug runner, Lucia Caminos is a fighter recently released from the clink
- You can play as Jason, Lucia or as them both together, with seamless switching between the two characters
- Player decisions are set to impact the relationships and characters
- Eating and exercise impact the body, just like in GTA San Andreas
- NPCs (which are much more diverse in appearance) react to your actions realistically, walking with a rifle out isn't going to go down well... in some places
- There is in-game social media, just in case you don't look at your phone enough in real life
As reported by Dazed, Rockstar has more than doubled its development team since the release of its last game, Red Dead Redemption 2, to work on GTA 6, with no details being left unexplored.
An office in Los Angeles is nearly completely dedicated to working on NPCs, while more than 50 real street artists were commissioned to design murals for Vice City.
Even the team designing driving is made up of real-life race-car drivers.

Rockstar rocked by GTA 6 leaks ahead of new trailer
What should be a time of celebration and anticipation at Rockstar (as well as last-minute hard work to get the game perfect before its released) has instead been one of heartbreak.
That's because an alleged leaker or leakers has posted over 10 lengthy and legitimate-looking clips of game play and cut scenes online.
The 'CyberLeek' person or group claimed to be fighting for gamers and criticised Rockstar for releasing GTA 6 without a physical disc - a move that hasn't gone down well - in an apparent manifesto.
It is not clear how old the version of the game the leaked clips are from is or how much of the gameplay will be in the final release, but Rockstar and parent company Take-Two have reportedly been working to take the videos down and find whoever is responsible.
Rockstar broke their silence on the leaks on August 26, saying in a statement: "We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the last week.
"It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.
"We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has - from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know.
They continued: "We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow.
"It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve.
"While it is unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19.
"We want to thank everyone in the community who has reached out with messages of support this past week - your words have meant more to this team than you can imagine.
"Ultimately, we are making this game for you, and without you, we would not have the privilege of making games. We look forward to sharing more with you soon."
