GTA 6 fans cling to trailer theory ‘that makes sense’ after Rockstar announcement

A second trailer for GTA 6 is being clamoured for by fans of the franchise

Ah, another GTA 6 fan theory that has gone up in smoke. But as with all things relating to the fanbase, when one of them passes us by, another springs up almost instantaneous.

We're referring to yesterday, of course. 25 March was to many within the gaming community the supposed release date of the fabled second trailer advertising Grand Theft Auto VI.

Fans are desperate for Rockstar to put it out at this stage given that the launch trailer was released by the developer in December 2023.

And with a second trailer also giving us the chance of a release date - or at the very least, a narrowed autumn release window - you can sympathise with those heading to Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) on a constant basis looking for any glimmer of hope they can attach themselves to.

To recap, for more than one year Reddit user known casually as 'Zesty' has been posting that the second trailer was coming on 25 March, 2025.

“The second trailer will drop 25 03 25,” they wrote last year, as reported by GAMINGbible. “Wait till next year. I can’t wait to see this go mental, and you all spend weeks trying to figure out who I am and how I have been right this entire time."

Zesty was back this week, reaffirming the 25th release date ahead of Tuesday.

Well, the day came and went. And Zesty's account over on Reddit was deleted. A blow to those believing in the individual.

Rockstar did make an announcement on Tuesday albeit for Red Dead Online, the spin-off online version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

"Get Triple Rewards (Gold, RDO$ and XP) in the Ambarino Series — this week’s Featured Series in Red Dead Online," it posted on X. "Plus, get 3X RDO$ and XP for Moonshiner Story Missions, XP Boosts for Posses, and more through March 31."

Great. But not what fans wanted, with one responding: "Just give us GTA 6 already."

A second said: "Well, looks like no news is coming today."

Well, fear not GTA fans. Another theory is in place.

Over on Reddit, one post about the second trailer said we can be expecting it next month. 1 April, to be precise.

"Bro is making sense," the post reads, with a screen grab from X.

The post on X says: "GTA 6 trailer one makes it clear, the make is about TRUST.

"What is the ONLY day of the year when you can't trust anyone?"

GTA 6 is set to focus on two main protagonists of Lucia and Jason in what many think will be a modern take on the classic Bonnie and Clyde story. Anyone who knows the tale knows that trust is everything.

Responding on Reddit, one user said: "Eventually, one of these theories is going to be right."

Here's to 1 April. Fingers crossed.
