Everything we know as 'GTA-style' game set in London is in development

The game promises an authentic take of the 'ruthless streets' of London

Fans of gritty, Grand Theft Auto-inspired open world games listen up, as an upcoming indie game is set to merge the genre with the streets of London.

The brainchild of Concrete Realm Games, ENDS will take players on a tour of the darker side of the British capital and allow them to carve out their own destiny.

Watch a concept trailer for the game below:

What do we know about upcoming 'GTA-style' game ENDS?

According to a synopsis posted on Steam, ENDS will offer us an opportunity to experience life on the 'ruthless' streets of London.

Set on the fictional Pembridge Estate in the capital, players will take on the role of Rahim, who is navigating the pitfalls of urban life alongside his two friends Sonny and Reece.

The game will take players through a narrative of 'brotherhood, family and loyalty' and promises to be a 'gritty crime drama' experience.

"We felt that many AAA game developers couldn’t quite capture the authenticity of London as we could," Concrete Realm said in an interview with Insider Gamer back in 2023.

"This project is a passion project for us, and we’ve discovered that many others share our enthusiasm for it. It’s a game designed by and for the people, aiming to provide a truly authentic London experience."

As the game's fairly gritty trailer, concept imagery and promise of 'diverse confrontations' suggest, you'll be taking part in a fair bit of illicit activities throughout your play-through of ENDS - something which developers were keen to stress wasn't a glorification of violence.

"Our primary mission with the game’s narrative is to highlight how this lifestyle can profoundly impact an individual’s life," the developers said.

"Our side missions are specifically designed to contrast legal and illegal activities, with a strong emphasis on demonstrating how each can affect both the community and the main characters within the game."

They added: "We are committed to portraying a realistic and nuanced depiction of these themes to provide players with a deeper understanding of the complexities involved, rather than promoting them in a positive light."

How can you play ENDS?

ENDS will be a mixture of open world 'sandbox' gaming and RPG.

There isn't much information on what platforms the game will be available on, however Concrete Realm's Steam page does say that ENDS will have full controller support for both Xbox and PlayStation's DualSense.

When will ENDS be released?

There isn't much information online or a concrete release date for ENDS at time of writing, however the developers were able to successfully reach their Kickstarter fund and have been sharing regular updates over on Instagram. So it's safe to say that development of the game is well underway.

Concrete Realm previously said they were aiming for a beta release in the first quarter of 2025, with a full release in December of that year.

So stay tuned.
