Movember is helping to launch a campaign that grabs your attention—and we mean really grabs it—this Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, teaming up with SMG Studio to launch a gaming controller with a very hands-on message.

Meet the Nut Check Pro: a slightly wonky, deliberately uneven controller designed to feel just a bit… off. And that’s exactly the point.

At the heart of Movember’s latest push is a simple idea: men are incredibly quick to notice when something isn’t right—especially when it comes to the things they use every day. A dodgy joystick? Immediate red flag. A weird vibration? Straight to troubleshooting. But when it comes to their own bodies, that same instinct doesn’t always kick in.

Movember wants to change that.

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men aged 15–39, yet awareness remains worryingly low. The organisation is using the Nut Check Pro as a physical reminder that if something feels different, it’s worth checking out—no pause menu required.

The controller’s uneven handle is designed to spark that exact moment of recognition. It’s subtle, but impossible to ignore after a while, kinda like the early signs of testicular cancer can be. And just like you wouldn’t keep playing with a faulty controller, Movember is encouraging men not to shrug off changes in their own “hardware.”

To spread the message, Aussie gaming creators are getting their hands on the controller throughout April, encouraging their communities to “know their nuts.” It’s a message delivered with humour, but grounded in something serious: early detection saves lives.

In Australia alone, more than 1,000 men are expected to be diagnosed with testicular cancer this year. The good news? It’s highly curable when caught early. The challenge is getting more men comfortable with checking themselves regularly—and actually acting if something feels off.

Movember’s advice is straightforward and easy to remember: Steam. Roll. Repeat.

Start in a warm shower—heat helps relax things. Then, gently roll each testicle between your thumb and fingers, getting familiar with what’s normal for you. You’re looking for anything unusual: lumps, swelling, pain, or changes in size or texture. Then repeat on the other side. That’s it. Quick, simple, and might just save your life..

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t try to power through it. See a doctor and get it checked out. It’s a small step that could make a massive difference.

The Nut Check Pro might get a laugh at first, but it’s going to open the door to conversations that don’t always happen easily—and gives men a memorable nudge to take their health seriously.

Because at the end of the day, knowing your gear isn’t just about better performance—it’s about looking after yourself.
