A Netflix horror film currently boasts a 100 percent rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, making it a must watch this Halloween. Check out the trailer to see for yourself.

Of course, we could just all jump back into tried and tested classics such as The Shining or one of the John Carpenter flicks this spooky season, but why not branch out and try something a bit different?

There’s a plethora of horror titles that aren’t amongst the best-known efforts of all time but are nonetheless a great option for a dose of fear this year.

In fact, some of them have universal critical acclaim from the reviewers that have seen them, which isn’t exactly an easy thing to acquire.

One such film is Creep 2.

Now, the eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the ‘2’ in the name implies the existence of a first Creep film, and you’d be exactly right.

The first film, released in 2014, was about a serial killer who captures videographers, luring them in before killing them, like all good serial killers do.

Creep 2 has been reviewed incredibly favourably.

This second film is written by the same people – Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass – and stars the latter in the main role as the serial killer who operates under the name ‘Aaron’.

To be fair, BOTH of these films have 100 percent ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning that the reviewers obviously think that there’s something in them.

Creep 2 is the one that is singled out for special praise, though.

The Hollywood Reporter said: "The sequel will impress any fan of the original. It's fresher than most of the low-budget thrillers gracing theatres lately."

Another review found the film ‘hypnotically unsettling’ and a third said it was ‘just as unsettling and entertaining as the original’.

We can’t learn a great deal from the blurb for the film, apart from that we can expect more of the same.

It reads: “A video artist who craves shocking stories realises she has made a mistake when she meets a serial killer in a cabin.”

Yep, that sounds like it ticks at least three boxes for a successful horror movie.

Obviously, things start to get really weird.

Did we mention that it is also freely available to watch on Netflix? Well, ‘freely’ if you’re already a subscriber to Netflix, anyway.

Many fans have been equally impressed with the follow-up film.

One said: “Creep 2 is an all-time banger.”

Another wrote: “Watching Creep 2 for the millionth time.

“I love this movie so much”

A third commented: “Creep 2 (2017) lived up to the hyped!

“The sense of unease all throughout the film keeps you engage”

There you have it – that’s your Halloween viewing sorted then.
