Netflix British crime drama that’s never aired on BBC has near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes

This could be worth a binge once you've finished Fool Me Once

Binging a load of crime dramas at the moment might have you considering yourself quite the detective. Or, you know, just wanting to stay up and watch more.

And while you’re working your way through the shed load of British crime dramas on Netflix, you might notice a lot of them actually come from the BBC.

Not including those binge-worthy Harlan Coben series though, obviously.

From Collateral and Inside Man to The Missing and Killing Eve, the broadcaster just gets it. But there’s one British crime drama with a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes that isn’t from the BBC.

You can watch the trailer here:

With Netflix’s latest release being Fool Me Once, this British crime drama is also produced by the streaming site and has a way higher score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The new Harlan Coben show sits at 75 percent on the Tomatometer with just a 45 percent audience score.

Whereas this 2019 crime series has a whopping 92 percent on the Tomatometer and a great 88 percent audience score.

Starring David Tennant, Sophie Okonedo, Katherine Kelly, Sharon Horgan and Kit Harrington, it’s created by Jim Field Smith and George Kay.

The show I’m talking about is of course Criminal: UK, which came out back in 2019, with a second season in 2020.

The synopsis for the hit Netflix series reads: “A cat-and-mouse drama, which focuses on the intense mental conflict between detectives and suspects. The stories take place within the confines of a police interview suite.”

It’s such a popular series the streaming site has various adaptions of it including Criminal: Germany, Criminal: Spain and Criminal: France.

Over on X, users called the show ‘excellent’ and ‘so damn good’.

Another put: “Soo simple but soo good. Really enjoying S2 of CRIMINAL: UK @netflix... what amazing acting.”

Many even seem to prefer it to the very popular Line of Duty.

One fan also wrote: “If you like intelligent police shows I recommend Criminal UK on Netflix. It's not a typical action-oriented show. The whole thing basically takes place in an interrogation room as they pick apart people's stories to get to the truth. Great show if you're into that.”

While someone else said: “Criminal UK on Netflix bloody awesome AGAIN! Second series equally as good as the first.”

And another added: “Absolutely gripping/fantastic acting.”

So, if you’re done with Fool Me Once and after another, even higher-rated, Netflix British crime drama, Criminal: United Kingdom is streaming on Netflix.
