House of the Dragon shows tender scene cut from latest episode and viewers are furious it wasn’t shown

Viewers have been fuming online after a scene that showed Daemon Targaryen’s more caring side was left out.

The sixth episode of House of the Dragon was full of scandalous reveals, gruesome deaths, and heartbreaking moments. But there apparently was one scene that was left out that has left fans furious.

Viewers of the Game of Thrones prequel series have been fuming online after a scene that showed Daemon Targaryen’s more tender side was left out.

The ever-controversial character seemed to have had a change for the better in the latest episode of the series, which included a decade-long time skip and Daemon settling down with new wife Laena Velaryon.

However, in one harrowing scene, he is faced with a similar scenario to his brother Visery as Laena has a fatal complication while giving birth to their third child.

Laena, overcome with grief, commands her dragon Vhagar to burn her alive.

The show eventually shows Daemon and Laena’s two twin daughters, Baela and Rhaena, distraught on a Pentos rooftop, as their father fails to comfort them.

However, in a scene from the trailer for the episode that was seemingly cut from the airing, Daemon can be seen speaking to his daughters in a clear moment of attempted support.

Meanwhile, in screen grabs from the making-of features for the episode, Daemon appears to hold his daughters in a caring embrace.

The official account for Game of Thrones even posted an image from the scene in a since-deleted tweet.

It looked to be a significant expansion of his character, however, fans have slammed the show's producers for failing to include it in the final cut.

One fan wrote: “They did Daemon dirty here by cutting the scene where he gives comfort to his daughters. MY MAN LOVES HIS FAMILY, don't y'all ever say otherwise.”

Another said: “Why would they cut this? A part of me thinks it’s because they don’t want Daemon to have redeemable qualities.”

A third added: “Deleting this scene was more cruel than all actions of Lord Larys.”

The fan's desire to see the scene released has even led to an online campaign to ‘#ReleaseTheDaemonCut’.

Whilst Daemon has had a complicated story arc so far, a moment of vulnerability with his children certainly would have added a whole lot of depth to his character.

Game of Thrones posting and then deleting the scene has only served to rile up fans as well.

Maybe we'll get to see a softer side to his character in the following few episodes.

Or, Laena’s devastating death could only push him further away from kindness.
