Idris Elba hints he's got a 'really big thing cooking' with DC at the moment

Many predict that the actor will reprise his character Bloodsport from The Suicide Squad.

Idris Elba hints that he’s got something ‘cooking’ with DC.

Many fans have wondered whether we could finally be getting a spin-off about his Suicide Squad character Bloodsport.

While sitting down with entertainment reporter Erik Davis, the 49-year-old actor was asked if he would ever contemplate returning to the DC or Marvel universe.

Elba revealed that a major project was in the works with DC.

Davis shared on Twitter: “I just spoke with Idris Elba about his new film #Beast. I asked what we’ll see him in next - a Marvel project or DC, and he said DC.

“He said he’s got a really big thing cooking for DC right now.”

The comment section went wild, with many trying to predict what the upcoming project could be.

One person wrote: “Deadshot vs Bloodsport with Batman hunting them both?”

Another said: “GREEN LANTERN PLEASE.”

A third person wrote: “A The Suicide Squad sequel? A Bloodsport spin-off series?”

While another commented: “Remember when James Gunn said he will give another member of the Suicide Squad movie his own TV show after PeaceMaker one. Well i guess it’s Idris Elba’s Bloodsport.”

Portraying both Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad and Heimdall in the Thor franchise, the actor has made a unique milestone of appearing in both Marvel and DC films.

However, the actor has always been blatantly honest about his experience filming superhero flicks.

While speaking to Entertainment Weekly in 2017, the Prometheus star revealed he’s had a love-hate relationship with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He told the outlet: "I like that I have a little part in Thor. I’m neither movie star or day player. It allows me to do other things I love.

“The last one [Ragnarok] was fun. The others weren’t fun. They’re work. But on this one, Taika [Waititi, the director] was great.”

Hopefully, his next superhero instalment is led by a brilliant mind like Taika's.

He added: “I wish I was more present in the Marvel family. I like what I have, but I also wish that I had a bigger character in the Marvel universe.”

Aside from this top-secret DC project, we’ll be seeing a lot more of the actor as he has three films in the pipeline.

Elba is currently filming the sequel to Training Day, the 2001 hit crime drama that earned Denzel Washington an Academy Award.
