Furious I'm a Celeb viewers complain the adverts are longer than the actual show

Viewers aren't happy.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here has just returned to telly, but viewers are struggling to get into the new series thanks to the annoyingly long ad breaks.

Tonight, we got to see the first trial of the series, the camp dynamics and dramas start to reveal themselves, and Owen Warner confuse himself even further.

But viewers are convinced that we saw even more adverts than we did jungle life, and they're already fed up with it.

"The ad to content ratio on I'm A Celeb is definitely not balanced actual like 40 minutes worth of adverts," one irritated viewer tweeted.

"Why are the adverts longer than the show," asked a second.

"One thing that puts me off watching this is the advert break every 5 minutes," a third tweeted.

"I'm a Celebrity... here's another advert break to pay for our appearance fees....," joked a fourth.

And a fifth suggested: "I'm A Celeb could literally be on for an hour if it wasn’t for all the adverts [and] then I could go to bed sooner lol."

But, hey, look on the bright side - at least every second advert was a Christmas one!

In between all those ad breaks, viewers did get to see the campmates unite in the jungle and start getting down and dirty with some gruesome challenges.

The first trial was in the hands of Olivia Attwood, Chris Moyles, Boy George and Scarlette Douglas, and involved all your favourite phobias from snakes and spiders to tight spaces and being submerged under water. Lovely!

Unfortunately, after her first challenge, we won't be seeing much more of Olivia.

It was announced on Monday that the Love Island star was forced to quit the series just 24 hours after joining.

A show spokesperson confirmed to LADbible: "As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks.

"Unfortunately, the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be further investigation.

"She has been absolutely brilliant and she'll be very much missed on the show."

A few hours later, Olivia's social media handlers confirmed the news, issuing a statement through her Instagram account which read: "To say Olivia is heartbroken would be an understatement, she dreamed of doing I'm A Celeb for years and was absolutely loving every second of the show and throwing herself into jungle life feet first (just as we knew she would).

"However, for reasons beyond her control, her journey has been cut short. Your support and kind words have meant the absolute world to her, now as much as it always has."

The statement concluded: "You will hear the truth from Olivia in due course and she will be back on your screens in the new year.

"Ps. Who's going to roast Matt Hancock now??"

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here continues tomorrow night at 9:00pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
